How do i get the video's from a home made dvd onto my computer?

I have some old home video's on vhs tapes that i burned onto a dvd+r using my vcr/dvd burner combo. How do i get the videos off of the dvd and save them onto my computer so i can upload them to youtube? I've tried 3 different dvd rippers with no success
